Illinois Spring Trout Season Just Around the Corner

Illinois spring trout season is just around the corner, scheduled to start April 2, with catch and release opening March 19.  Now is the time to enjoy warmer days scouting your favorite trout stream or revisiting your favorite lake after breakup. Illinois typically authorizes spring trout fishing on 50 lakes, ponds, and streams throughout the state. Special locations for catch and release are available, as are stocked areas. IDNR stocks over 80,000 trout each year in Illinois bodies of water designated for spring trout fishing.

Grab a walking stick or a fly rod and make a point to welcome spring with moments afield. While afield, plan to visit with your regional LandGuy about new properties for fishing and discovery this spring.
