Growing up in Southern Illinois, Dave Butler spent most of his childhood hunting and fishing alongside his father at the region’s many lakes and renowned public hunting grounds. Those early years in the woods and on the water gave him a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the many recreational opportunities the area has to offer. Today, that same passion guides his work at LandGuys, helping clients discover properties that fit their lifestyle, investment, and recreational goals.
After high school, Dave married his wife, Danielle, and supported her throughout her 22-year career in the U.S. Air Force. During that time, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Photography and a Master’s degree in Education, leading to a career as a Department of Defense school teacher for military families at bases across the U.S. and overseas. His service years also opened doors to hunt, fish, and travel around the world, from Germany and Hungary to Namibia, where he built lasting friendships and gained valuable global perspective.
In 2016, Dave launched his own travel business, specializing in booking hunts and outdoor travel experiences with outfitters he had come to know personally. Following Danielle’s retirement, the Butlers returned to their Southern Illinois roots, building their home on 60 acres in Franklin County in 2021. Dave now spends his days farming, hunting family-owned properties, and sharing his knowledge of the land with his 17-year-old son, Dylan.
